Gardening Club

“My three year old daughter and I loved gardening club during Spring/Summer 2015. It was the highlight of our week! I learned lots from the sessions and my daughter has continued her interest in gardening ever since” Marie Yeo

Join the Bridge this year for hands on gardening fun and adventures – for adults and children alike. Every Monday 1.30 – 2.30 during term time, our experienced gardener (Ruth) will help you and your child to:

-Learn about growing vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers
– Sow and grow! – discover the magic of seeds
– Explore how food is grown – from soil to plate.
– Develop different skills and have a go at gardening
– Experience garden-related art and craft activities

Children will have access to mini gardening tools and we will provide seeds, bulbs and all equipment necessary during the sessions.

Ruth Cracknell the session leader is an enthusiastic gardener with lots of practical experience. She previously worked as a gardening volunteer with the children at Halstow Primary school and ran an after school gardening club. She is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society and has attended courses including Urban Schools – Get More from your growing space; and A Year in Your School Gardening Club. Ruth is currently studying to become a qualified forest school leader.

This is a community group so all members of the community are welcome to attend – from children and their parents/carers to retirees and younger adults wanting to learn gardening skills. Children must be accompanied by an adult who takes full responsibility for them throughout the session.

Please dress appropriately for each session. Ideally wear practical clothes and footwear that are comfortable and suitable for outside activities. It is a good idea to bring along wellies and waterproofs as you may need them!
