Baby Group

Baby Group

Becoming a parent is emotional and exhausting at the best of times, let alone during a time when all the usual support is unavailable. Some parents will be feeling isolated and we want to help combat this. We will be running an indoor Baby Group for those with young - or new - babies so that parent/carers can meet people and share experiences.

The Flying Seagull Project

The Flying Seagull Project *A special show just for our volunteers*

‘The Flying Seagull Project has launched their Laugh N Play tour – a series of live circus shows across London and the South East.  The new Laugh N Play show features all the fun and silliness the Seagulls are famous for – stories, music, magic and clowning. It has been specially devised with Covid-19 safety in mind, delivering a shared live experience which feels as close to normal as possible. Isobel Wolff (clown name Wolfy), Project Leader at The Flying Seagull Project, said: “It is high time that kids who have been stuck inside for months can finally come together in a safe way to share a much-needed bellyful of laughter. We can’t wait to get back out there and do what we do best, spreading smiles face-to-face.’

This fantastic group will be performing two shows at The Bridge especially for our volunteers on Saturday 17th October at 11am – 12pm and 12.30pm – 1.30pm. The shows are suitable for all primary aged children.

Volunteering & Outreach

Volunteering at The Bridge

We have a fabulous team of Volunteers and supporters who help us to run Stay and Play sessions, Events and special activities,  finances and fundraising, who work in so many ways to help our community and support local children and families.  We would love to welcome you on-board.  Click the button below to find out more about volunteering at The Bridge and to sign up to join our Volunteer Family.

Our Outreach Activities & Partners

We work closely with other organisations to help support the vulnerable members of our community.  With a team of wonderful volunteers, we regularly collect food surplus from local supermarkets and our friends and neighbours and distribute to the HER Centre, Clockhouse Community Centre, Robert Owen Nursery and local primary schools.  This food is then distributed to families in the local area who need a bit of extra support.   We also have a close relationship with the QEH Children's Ward and pre-COVID were fortunate enough to host a Christmas party for the children on the ward and their families.

What is The Bridge?

The New Play Boat

We are  a Community Interest Company (CIC), led by volunteers providing safe, engaging sessions, events and activities for local families.  We are an inclusive, welcoming centre passionately committed to supporting our community.

The Bridge was set up in 2012 by a determined group of volunteers to save it from government closure in 2011.  The Bridge is a large, enclosed, secure garden with brand new outside playground,  an indoor play room,  adjoining kitchen and indoor adult and child toilet facilities.

Under the leadership of General Manager, Lucie and Grounds Manager / Director, Ruth, the centre still relies heavily on volunteers for all operational needs from running Stay & Play Sessions to Accounting, Marketing and the Board of Directors.   The Bridge is a thriving hub of the community, working closely with partner organisations to provide support to families when needed, training and opportunities for local people who have taken a career break or need to re-train and acts as a launch pad for local businesses.
